Series Information

1Character Consistency

Check eye color, height, hair, distinguishing marks

Core characteristics, speech patterns, behaviors

Reread a dialogue scene from book one — does this book's dialogue still sound like the same person?

Family history, education, past events

How characters interact, existing conflicts and alliances

Verify aging is realistic based on time elapsed between books

A broken arm in chapter 3 is still healing in chapter 5 — scars and limps persist

The innkeeper from book two shouldn't reappear with a new name and face

2Timeline & Chronology

Time between books, seasonal progression

Real-world events, fictional historical references

Cross-reference birthdates with current timeline

When characters mention past events, details match what actually happened

No accidental head-hopping or tense slips against the standard declared above

3Locations & World-Building

Layout, appearance, and atmosphere match previous descriptions

Travel time between locations is realistic and consistent

Climate patterns match established world-building

Customs, traditions, and social structures

4Rules & Systems

Limitations, costs, and abilities remain stable across books

No anachronistic technology introduced without explanation

Power structures, leadership, and laws remain consistent

Currency, trade, and wealth levels are logical

5Recurring Elements

Central messages and motifs throughout the series

Recurring imagery and symbolic elements

References to previous book events match what actually happened

Ongoing storylines progress logically

Who holds the sword, the letter, the heirloom now — items shouldn't teleport between owners

Every gun on the mantel in book one is fired — or deliberately still loaded
